Happy Anniversary to Me!
Today marks one year of being a travel advisor and the proud owner of Go Away Travel! Partnering with Travel Planners International has turned my dream into a reality, and it's been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’ve finally found a career that allows me to blend creativity, knowledge of Europe and beyond, and the joy of helping others create lasting memories through incredible vacations.
A Journey That Sparked a Passion for Travel
From 2015 to 2017, my family had the amazing privilege of living in Ascot, England. For two unforgettable years, we embraced a life I never took for granted. I made wonderful friends through the international school my daughter attended, and we regularly ventured into Windsor for day trips.
I visited Windsor Castle so many times, I could practically lead tours! I knew where to find the ivory game cabinet, the perfect window to view the Queen’s rose garden, where the Long Walk begins, and the secret entrance to the moat garden. I knew the best place to wait for the Royal Guard band to perform and where the best place to be up front for the Changing of the Guards, which by the way, is much better in Windsor than at Buckingham.
We also spent many days in London, discovering new things through guided walks. (If you’re ever in London and want to explore, check out London Walks www.walks.com for a fantastic selection of tours led by the best historians.) I learned where the oldest coffee house is, ate my way through London on a Foodies tour and had the #1 Fish & Chips (it's at Poppies), visited Harry Potter filming locations, and even went on a Jack the Ripper tour led by a guide dressed as Sherlock Holmes—what an adventure!
It was during those two years living abroad as an expat that my love for travel began. And it's because of that love for travel that I found my passion as a travel advisor.
In the last year, I have helped 64 travelers:
- 2 group trips to Thailand for missions
- Honeymooners to Punta Cana, DR
- 3 separate trips to Italy
- A sister's getaway to Scotland and Ireland
- Crete, Greece for 3 besties graduating from college
- A couple touring Paris for the 1st time
