This September, I will be participating at the L’Italia Festival – Lititz, PA on Sept 19, 2026

What will be there?  Food trucks, wine garden, crafts, Italian-made items, story time for the kids, Italian car show, live performances and cooking demonstrations.

I will have lots of vacation ideas with me: Luxury Italy, guided tours, budget-friendly tours. Europe, South Africa, river cruising itineraries, and more. Looking to explore Rome or stroll through the vineyards in Tuscany? Maybe you'd like to ride in a gondola and be serenaded by a gondolier in a striped shirt, telling goofy jokes but showing you the Grand Canal at sunset. Or maybe you would enjoy living like a local, learning the skillful art of pasta making, or how limoncello is brewed.

We are back from our vacation and cannot thank you enough for your suggested side-trips. The guided tour of Vienna was very historical and architectural. We learned a lot of history at the Skip the Line Schonnbreun Palace tour. The Sound of Music Tour was a little hoky but we had a great visit and pictures in the countryside of Austria from Salzburg. Our guide in Innsbruck was fabulous and gave us a full history of Swarovski Crystal. The Neuswanstein castle tour was fantastic. All the train connections went smooth, and flights were fantastic. Can’t say more about the variety of markets that we visited and sights we encountered. We can’t thank you enough for your suggestions and will definitely be in touch next time we plan a tour to Europe.

The flexibility to do what we wanted without a time frame. My sister and I traveled to Scotland and Ireland and had an amazing time. We told Julie a few places we wanted to visit and she booked our flight, hotels, and rental cars. We did alot of hiking, the Old Man of Storr was my favorite, castles, drove around to see the views, stopped at some of the local shops, and had chocolate croissants every morning for breakfast! What an amazing experience and one I won't soon forget!

The best part was having everything already booked for us so all we had to do was show up and enjoy the sites and smells around us!

I loved the time we spent with our adult kids and their significant others in a beautiful place where none of us had ever been. The Malia Caribe Punta Cana did not disappoint. We loved the resort and its amenities. The pool was beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had more rain than normal for 2 days and they did a great job removing the excess water in about 24 hrs. The food was good but not always typical American cuisine, which was good for me because that was part of what I wanted to experience. We did 2 excursions. Monkeyland and Swimming with Horses. They were both exceptional and highly recommend. We also went parasailing off the beach. Overall, we had a fantastic vacation. I would go back and explore other parts of the Dominican Republic.

We made it to Tarragona and visited the Tarragona Cathedral, the Roman Circus, enjoyed wandering the streets, and even spent some time at the beach. Tossa de Mar was amazing—we loved the hidden cove and ended up spending most of our day there. Mallorca was beautiful. We did both a daytime boat tour and an evening sunset cruise. We also rented a car for a day and drove to Deià, Valldemossa, and Sóller, which were all absolutely beautiful. We were happy with both hotels, but we’re especially glad we were able to stay at ROC Illetas. Thank you so much for all your help planning such a wonderful trip!

About me...

Hello! I'm Julie, the owner of Go Away Travel, an avid traveler and cultural enthusiast. I've had the privilege of calling England home for a couple of years. My family and I loved exploring the tapestry of Europe that took us through the charming countryside of the UK, the sun-drenched piazzas of Italy, and the historic streets of Germany at Christmastime. We explored ancient ruins in Rome and Athens and skied the Alps in Austria. We have climbed the Eiffel Tower and were blessed to have walked where Jesus walked in Jerusalem and Tibereas.

My time in England wasn't just about residing in a foreign country; it was about immersing myself in a rich culture and creating unforgettable memories. One such memory stands out above all others:

It was during Royal Ascot week in 2017, a quintessentially British event steeped in tradition and pageantry. As the day's races concluded, I walked to the end of my lane on High Street, accompanied only by my goofy dog, Bogo. We stood alone in anticipation as Her Majesty The Queen would drive past on her way back to Windsor Castle, after the day's festivities.

As the Bentley neared, it slowed to a crawl. To my delight, the Queen sat up, her face lit up by one of her famous smiles, and she waved directly at us. At US! While I'm certain it was Bogo who caught her eye, the moment felt magical and personal.

My adventures across Europe have shaped my worldview, enriched my understanding of diverse cultures, and fueled my passion for exploration. Whether it's savoring pasta in a hidden Roman trattoria, exploring castles and cathedrals, or simply enjoying a quiet moment, I've learned that every journey offers a unique story.
